Diversity is one of the four themes of the CEM10/MI-4 Ministerial, with women, youth, and diverse populations (i.e. Indigenous, rural, remote) bringing new perspectives to the discussions. Delegates will engage with members of the Youth Leaders Forum and exceptional researchers and innovators from around the world who have been selected to participate in the Ministerial.

Accelerating Clean Energy Innovation with Young Leadership

Student Energy’s Youth Leaders Forum, taking place in conjunction with CEM10/MI-4, will bring together almost 70 young people from around the world to connect with clean energy leaders, encourage intergenerational collaboration, and showcase youth leadership in clean energy. Student Energy, a global non-profit that is creating a movement of young leaders committed to transitioning the world to a sustainable energy future, has been hard at work in the lead up to CEM10/MI-4. Student Energy is currently guiding youth programme participants on how to engage with their local communities on clean energy. Participants are learning what their priorities are at home and will bring those insights to Vancouver to help accelerate clean energy innovation.

The young clean energy leaders, aged 18 to 30, were selected for the programme by Student Energy and come from CEM and MI member countries with diverse backgrounds in clean energy and innovation. Select participants will be prepared to engage in various parts of the MI-4 programme such as the Ignite Talk session, as well as other relevant side events. Youth will also have opportunities to engage with Mission Innovation delegates, innovators, and business leaders throughout the Youth Leaders Forum.

Ignite Talk: Bringing New Perspectives on Innovation to MI

The Ministerial Planning Team is excited to introduce a new event in the MI-4 programming. The Ignite Talk will offer a unique approach to sharing perspectives that will serve to spark collaborative initiatives, raise ambitions, and contribute towards Mission Innovation’s priorities to accelerate clean energy breakthroughs. Four individuals, representing perspectives from Policymakers, Business Leaders, Innovators, and Youth, will each deliver a fast-paced and exciting presentation that will bring more voices to the discussion on accelerating clean energy innovation.

The Ministerial Planning Team is pleased to announce two of the confirmed speakers, representing innovators and youth for the Ignite Talk session:
