Name: | Port Readiness Level (PRL) Framework |
Start/End Date: | October 2023-September 2024 |
Project Status: | Completed |
Point of Contact: | Rinske van der Meer (Port of Rotterdam) |
Pillar: | Fuels |
This project refines the previously developed International Association of Ports and Harbors’ (IAPH) PRL Framework. Over 6 months, a tool has been beta tested and developed into an online tool.
Project Objective:
The main outcome of this project is a web-based tool to aid in the self-assessment, by ports and port authorities, of a port’s current and future ability to supply or support the use of alternative fuels.
Project Milestones:
The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and the World Ports Climate Action Program (WPCAP) Port Readiness Level for Marine Fuels Tool is here. This new digital iteration of the tool supports the assessment of the readiness levels of ports for bunkering operations involving the different low- and zero-carbon fuels. The universal tool provides a common metric through which ports can evaluate, plan, and collaborate around future maritime fuels. For further information, please read the full article and explore the tool portal.
