Practical Learnings from Methanol Ship Design and Operations

Zero Emission Shipping Project
Name: Practical Learnings from Methanol Ship Design and Operations
Start/End Date: September 2025 –
Project Status: Ongoing
Point of Contact: Capt Sameer Bhatnagar (MMMCZCS) / capt.sameer.bhatnagar@zerocarbonshipping.com

This project aims to address gaps between methanol as a fuel and current industry awareness and uptake. By sharing learnings from vessels operating on methanol, this initiative aims to share learnings from first movers and contribute to the accelerated adoption of methanol as a marine fuel. The project will develop a first-hand use case of methanol-fueled vessel operations that can serve as a blueprint for new adopters, help inform policymakers, de-risk investment decisions, contribute to scale methanol as marine fuel and elevate the main learnings with operating on methanol as a fuel onboard vessels.

Project Objective:

The project will share learnings from users of Methanol as a fuel – real world operational and design experience.
