Clean Energy RD&D Investments

  • The UAE will continue to increase investment in clean energy RD&D and innovation over the next five years, as it did under the first phase of Mission Innovation.
  • Within the Mission Innovation focus areas, hydrogen and high-renewable-penetration energy systems will be the primary research investment areas, aligning with the UAE’s climate, industrial, and development strategies.
  • The UAE also plans to substantially increase investment in CCUS, scaling up from 800,000 tons per year today (one of the few commercial-scale operations globally) to up to 5 million tons by 2030.
